Area of Tennessee:

Whether it be in the highlands of Scotland, the green plains of Ireland, or the rolling mountains of Appalachia, music and drink have always brought people together. Not much for big name celebrity bands, these cultures did, however, produce their fair share of musicians and singers. Each had received the songs of their heritage and could play them for hours with great skill entertaining and inspiring the locals and travellers. Their place of congregation was a public house, or pub, where any and all could come have a drink and listen in on the session. Boyd’s Jig & Reel in the Old City of Knoxville is such a place for all those who seek cold drink, warm conversation, and lively music.
Pub Sessions:
A pub session (seisúin in Irish Gaelic) refers to playing music and/or singing in the relaxed social setting of a local pub, in which the music-making is intermingled with the consumption of ale, stout, and beer and conversation. Performers sing and play traditional songs and tunes from the Irish, English and Scottish traditions, using instruments such as the fiddle, accordion, concertina, flute, tin whistle, uilleann pipes, tenor banjo, guitar, and bodhrán.”
